The origin of dragons

Red corn snake, zebra swallowtail butterfly, peonies and dodder weed. Part of the Thieves of Spring series.
As a kid I recall reading a speculation that dragons came from people glimpsing snakes with birds/bats in their mouths and people making mountains out of molehills. So, why not a butterfly? The contrasting background of peonies and dodder (a parasitic plant) seemed appropriate for the theme.
Still have a few days left on this one.

Louis Ginter Botanical Gardens
Along with stepbrothers' wedding, we went to see the botanical gardens last week. They had a live butterfly exhibit up, which was pretty darn magical. Here's some pictures from that.
