River view

On the river.
5x7 inches.
Acrylic on board.

Another view off of the Creeper Trail.

Haven't had a chance to paint much yesterday-- did line up another show for the summer, though! It'll be in a tiiiiny town, in a tiiiiiny museum, and will probably give the folks there the culture shock of their life. ;D

Starlings are back!

Building Home. My Home."
8x24 inches
Acrylic on board.

Sister piece to last years' Aliens (http://onecrazycleric.deviantart.com/art/Aliens-280494317)

Both the starling and the sky in Home have this wonderful iridescence that is bloody impossible to capture on camera...

Yet another cat.

Indigo Cat
8x10 inches
Acrylic on board

Color aside, this cat is of a Siberian variety. Siberians are distant cousins to the Norwegian forest cats: this means that they are bulky, long-haired, and smart as the dickens. We had one when I was a kid, a mammoth of a feline who was loyal as a dog to my grandmother. His name was "Barsik", which translates into "little snow leopard".

Kudzu on the mind.

"Kudzu Critters of Rt. 19"
18x24 inches
Acrylic on board.

Talk of invasive species often makes me think of human immigrants, who are often treated like hostile invaders whether or not they are in the country legally. And then there's the fact that creatures such as common pigeon and starling, and plants such as dandelion and coltsfoot are familiar sights from childhood.

It's sad to see whole forested sides buried under the carpet of kudzu, but at the same time, I can't help but secretly root for the dastardly legume...
