Pecking away at the Origin, plus some studies.

More 4x6s.

In contrary news, apparently the "I Bring You Blue! Pretty Blue!", Aka "The Wedding Gift" got sold. That's bad because now I've got to paint an extra larger painting for the 2015 show, and that's good because.. well. Moneys.

The origin of dragons

Two progress shots.

Red corn snake, zebra swallowtail butterfly, peonies and dodder weed. Part of the Thieves of Spring series.

As a kid I recall reading a speculation that dragons came from people glimpsing snakes with birds/bats in their mouths and people making mountains out of molehills. So, why not a butterfly? The contrasting background of peonies and dodder (a parasitic plant) seemed appropriate for the theme.

Still have a few days left on this one.

One finished painting, 3 studies.

8x10 inches, acrylic on board.
And, because I haven't painted a cat in ages, here's a few. A 6x8 inches, and a pair of 4x6 inchers.

Finished Evening Peep of Spring

"The Evening Peep of Spring"
12x16 inches
Acrylic on board

Iridescence is impossible to photograph! The background is two layers of silver micropearl pigment over dark blue, and the depth of it does not show through this at all. Ah well.
