Pecking away...

Can't get a good picture of this thing even with good lighting. Something about the combination of really dark background and iridescence in the sky screws with the camera.

Merry Thanks-Birding.

Looks like 'll have a bit more time to do the Art of Wrenliness in the nearby future. Which is a GOOD THING. :D

Progress continues.

Spent a few hours on Art of Wrenliness today, for the first time in almost two months.
Also, some more progress on the Oak&Ash&Thorn:

More progress.

Been having a really time hard concentraiting.
 2 finished 8x10s.

OAK progress. Not sure where the heck the figure came from. But apparently, concept of moonlight as thread is hard to shake off. Urge to remove the figure, rising. Blah.

Also, Chandelier plant bloomed today. For some strange reason.

More pets.

2 9x12 inch doggies from today. The boxer's looking off, so 'll be wreaking him tomorrow.

Pecking away...

8x10 portrait, for the same lady that commish'd the white and the black cats done recently.

Progress on OAT. Been pecking away at that thing for most of the week, slowly but surely. Also, I can't take photos worth a damn, but that's not news.

Progress. (Some).

A couple of 8x10 commissions. (Not the best of photos, but okay for documentation sake.)

Doing a few polymer clay dog portraits on the side. ~3-4 inches on any one side.

Progress on the 18x24 incher.

Oak, ash and thorn.

Had this painting idea in my head for a few months, finally got around to starting on it... Starting with a monochromatic underpainting and adding color as it goes. 18x24 inches, acrylic.

Unrelated (picture dump for other use.)

The last art trade for a while.

7.5x24 inches, acrylic on board.

For a woven wren by a good friend/artist in Abingdon, VA.

Thursday, November 14, 2013

I see your lack of pie and raise you a sweet potato.

6x6 inch chinchilla for a fundraiser in February.
Finished 8x10 pet portraits.

Finished 12x16.

Will have a few polymer clay pet portraits coming up, along with a human/pet portrait, which shall be interesting.

BOOM. Hedgehog.

12x12, acrylic on board. My side of an art trade.

There's a really cute Russian(?) trope of the hedgehog being this chubby little industrious guy, who collects mushrooms in the fall by sticking them onto his needles. Hedgehogs are insectivores and have no need for mushrooms, but the thought is still cute!

And another pet portrait. This is what we call "doing magic". The original image is 2x3 inches, old and worn. The painting is 8x10.

From today...

Study for a 12x16. (Had to compile 2 photos of different dogs together..)

Aaand, the 12x16.
Also worked a little on a hedgehog painting that was part of an art trade.

On an entirely unrelated note, finally checked out the library out here last week. It is two stories tall and has a Korean book collection. Of all things.

Got two science fiction-related books: "Hominids" by Robert J Sawyer, which did not keep my interest, and "Spider Star" by Mike Brotherton, which did.

Things to come.

Spent today doing overlay on the four previous pet portraits, and primed some more panels for future projects.
16 of the latter, took about 2 hours.

Plowing on.

There's a chance that 'll actually be taking a formal painting class in the spring semester... This is very, very exciting.

8x10 underpaintings from today.

Aaand, the finished dragons. :D

More unfinished bits.

Two 8 by 10s from today..

Before anyone comments on the cat, this is the (very blurry) picture 've had to work with:

And a 9x12. The owners of this one and the past three boxer paintings breed 'em, apparently..

Still have 3 art trades due that are not on the subject of pets, which is nice... Now to just find the time.

And, progress.

Actually went to the gym for half an hour today. The result? N feels slightly less guilty, and her ankles hurt.

Anyway, 2 8x10s in progress.

And 1 9x12.
The latter may look wonky because the poses, faces, and heights of dogs were literally pulled from 3 different photographs. :\ artists =/= magic. Perspective and scaling are just some of the things you've got to worry about when compiling like that.
